10 Careers for Students in 2022
You may have thought that the only way to succeed in your career was to work at one place for 40 years and collect an envelope of money from your mailbox every two weeks, but times have changed. With the rise of the internet, more and more people are working online, giving you the ability to work wherever you want.
1) Virtual assistance
People often associate virtual assistance with administrative tasks, such as running errands or scheduling meetings. But there are many other career paths that fall under virtual assistance, including transcription services and social media management. If you enjoy writing, blogging or online marketing, these fields may be a great fit for you. By leveraging your personal strengths and focusing on your talents, you can bring in an impressive income from home.
2) Teaching English online
Online English-teaching is one of 10 online jobs for students. It’s a growing career option, as more and more people from developing countries are looking to learn English as a second language. This is especially true in Asia and South America, where many young people will study English abroad to boost their résumés and bring attention to their businesses.
3) Translation services
Due to globalization, there’s been a dramatic increase in demand for translation services. No matter where you live or what language you speak, translators are becoming more and more valuable. If you have native fluency and are looking to earn some money while going to school, try freelance translation services. With hundreds of people online who need your services each day, it’s hard not to find enough work.
4) Remote desktop support
Remote desktop support is one of those careers that are going to be on-demand, as more people work from home. There’s a ton of demand and not enough supply, meaning you can make pretty good money in remote desktop support. The job itself involves traveling around and supporting different businesses with their computer problems; remote desktop support specialists need to be familiar with a wide range of operating systems and software.
5) Web design
In 2022, web design will be a highly-sought after job. Web designers are responsible for making sure that websites are easy to use and visually appealing. People will pay top dollar to ensure their site looks good and gets plenty of traffic.
6) Data entry
While data entry jobs are not sexy, they do pay a decent wage to those willing to put up with working from home. They don’t require any particular skillset, except perhaps that you are able to type quickly. While these jobs won’t last forever, there is no telling just how long they will stick around as more and more companies transition their operations online.
7) Social media management
It can be tough to stay on top of all your social media accounts and make sure that you’re always interacting with your followers. With just a few minutes a day, you can be a social media manager and help businesses get their messages out there. Being a social media manager will give you valuable experience interacting with customers, brainstorming creative content, and working with brands—all skills that any employer would love to see on your resume. 8) Freelance photography
We’re looking at an oversaturated labor market, one where not everyone will find a job after graduation. That means that even if you’re willing to do what others don’t want to do—like freelance photography or social media management—you may still have to compete with a lot of other people who are willing to work for much less.
9) Computer programming
Computers are everywhere these days, and everything from autonomous cars to Siri is being built by computer programmers. In 2018, some 1.3 million Americans were employed as software developers—and that number is expected to grow 20 percent by 2022. There are many opportunities to write or contribute content online.
